The flesh is at enmity with God (Ephesians 2:15); all mankind is "darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God" (Ephesians 4:18). The answer is to declare His righteousness. You see, God could not remain just and at the same time allow sin to go unpunished. It is His own glory which He has given to us (John 17:22), and it is the result of our being declared righteous through faith in His Blood.
